DeNaClear

Turning the ocean’s natural pressure into a new source of energy-efficient desalination.

Desalination without high-pressure pumps. The system harnesses hydrostatic forces to filter salts using filters that function similarly to corals. The venture enables savings of up to 70% of the energy required to desalinate the same quantity of water, by placing the filtration system at depths of around 500–700 metres and using the natural energy produced by depth pressure to drive the salt-filtering process. The system also transports water using air lift, producing further energy savings.
